Winton the centre of dinosaur country

Sunset at the campsite

Winton main street and the usual line up of utes!

One way to get rid of rubbish - chuck it in a fence!

On the road to Hughenden.  Flat, dry and more road work.
Again flood damage repairs.

A & P show in town.  Horses and a lumberjack show featuring a Kiwi.

A day trip to Porcupine Gorge.
Emus, and limestone but there was water in the creek.

Lots of these on the road to Mt Isa

Now where did you say we were going?

Free camping at Campapse. Road one side, rail the other.
The trains were the quietest.

Off to Townsville with 2 nights at Fletchers Creek near Charters Towers.

Our campsite at Fletchers Creek out of Charters Creek

Balancing the books must continue

Some rock formations on the Hervey Development Road heading to Townsville

All down-hill now to Townsville

The coast is there somewhere through the mist.
We had some rain on the way over today!!

  1. Your photos give a real sense of the outback. Very tempting... Watch out for bikers next month.

    1. The bikers are not the problem. Watch out for the Grey Nomads with caravans!
