Next night at Bonney Well rest area.
Most of these windmills (constructed 1930's) don't work now and the wells date back to the formation of the road for the telegraph line Adelaide to Darwin - 1880's

An area called the Pebbles.

This petrol station had a novel way to attract customers.

There are some rocky areas  between the flat.

Conners Well another free camp night.

These very large and magic sculptures were in an aboriginal area.
We will stop on the way back and see them again.

We think this is an ant house!

as opposed to a termite mound.

Still flat and spot the railway.

We crossed the Tropic of Capricorn again.

This is the highest point on the road but we don't know what height.
Some bugger flogged the marker!!

Into Alice Springs population about 20 - 25,000

Views of town from Anzac Hill

The gap that heads south to other suburbs and the airport

Our campsite at Stuart Camp

We drove on a day trip into the West MacDonnell Nat. Park.

Ochre Pits.  These soils used as mud for the face and body paints.

Orminston Gorge.  We need to be here when it is wet!

Serpentine Gorge smaller but still impressive.

A morning at the 'Alice in the Desert' Centre.
Birds, Aboriginal history talks and walks.
Wet and cold (7 degrees) while we were there.

Frog Mouth

Rosella of some sort

Kingfisher one of about 12 types over here.

When the film is finished the screen lowers to give you this scene outside.
