Week 14 - Alice Springs to Darwin

Our trip north from Alice Springs to Tennant Creek was over return territory.  We did have time to stop at a couple of places we missed on the way down.

These 2 huge statues at Aileron were made just to attract travellers to stop and had no real indigenous significance. Very spectacular.

Fire Danger notice.  Can you see how it differs from NZ  'Catastrophic'!!
Only showing low here as there had been rain a few days ago.

An area called Marble Rocks.  Not as extensive as Castle Rocks but very impressive.

Our campsite at Hi-way Inn north of Tennant Creek

Our campsite at Katherine.  4 nights here to rest and look around.

Back with the railway at Katherine and we saw these double decker wagons for the 1st time.

Hot springs at Katherine.  Just what you need with 30 degree temp!

A visit to the Katherine Gorge NP in the heat of the day.
Worth the walk but over 30 degrees amongst the rocks.

A very obliging Kookaburra

North to Darwin through burnt and burning lands.

The termites are a bit bigger up here.

The next blog will feature Darwin and Kakadu.
