Leaving Alice Springs for Yulara/Uluru we had rain in the night and on the journey.
A novelty to see puddles and use the wipers.
Closer to Yulara cleared and still flat but more desert like
Our 1st camels but not feral
An Indigenous dance group at the Camp Resort
Our 1st view of Uluru next morning when the fog lifted
We walked around the base with these various views
Folk still climb the rock even though they are asked and advised not to.
Dangerous and culturally insensitive
There have been about 30 people killed falling off on this climb!
Our sunset shots were effected by clouds on the horizon.
A 2 hr. wait to get a good position to see this!
Next day head for the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) via the road to the WA Border.
The Olgas are very different than Uluru.
Rocky rather than sandstone.
These were our 1st feral camels.
Australia has about 1 million of these camels causing damage to stock fences and competing for cattle feed.
On our trip back to Alice Springs we spent a night at Curtin Springs Station.
In Feb. they had a cull of 1700 camels!
Mt Conner much larger than the others but looks similar.
A large salt pan. I guess in the wet this is a lake.
Water for stock around here from bores only.
Flat again!
Our 2nd camp at Alice Springs
Back to AS just in time for the famous Camel racing. These are held on the worlds only purpose built camel racing track (500 mtrs)
There were even human races.
Now we head back north through Tennant Creek and up to Darwin. (1600 km)
Lovely photos.
